One example of a student self-evaluation sheet.
In one reading group I ran in a fifth grade class, I struggled with group management. Students seemed interested only in competing with each other with put-downs and bad behavior. I decided to use this tension toward good by implementing a self-evaluation at the end of each group meeting. Behavior changed almost immediately, and I was rather surprised at how strict the students were at grading their own behavior.
