More like this... (Similar Pages, Related Pages)

On the second pass through the search engines, you will be using the "Similar Pages" feature found on several of the search engines.

Search engines often keep track of keywords that appear together on webpages. It is quite possible that other keywords exist that you may not have considered. Using this feature should turn up some other "hits" you may not have yet seen. You can use the same keywords you used earlier or modify that group of words now. Use the cut and paste method described earlier to insure that you are using an identical search string.

2018 Update:

The availability and specific term used for this feature changes from time to time as the search engines tweak their sites. For example...

Google now calls this feature "Searches related to..." and displays this feature down at the bottom of the first results page.

Yahoo Search now shows this feature as the "Also try:" suggestions at the top of and down at the bottom of the first results page.

Bing displays what it now calls "Related searches for..." at the bottom of the first page of results.

Ask offers "Related Search" terms on the right side of the first results page.

You get the basic idea... The search engines are offering other keywords or phrases that it has noticed provide similar results for what you entered in the query box.

Don't panic if this feature is not exactly as described in this introduction. Just look around the results page to see if you can find a similar feature. If all else fails, you can consult the search engine's help files.

Add your observations on using this technique to your digital logbook and add bookmarks when you find appropriate resources.
