Managing simultaneous web browser and text editor windows
You can move easily between the web browser window and the text editor window by clicking on any exposed portions of either window to bring it to the front of the screen.
If you are uncomfortable working with multiple onscreen windows, you can minimize or hide either the web browser or text editor window when you aren’t using it by following these steps.
Windows:
Click the Minimize button at the top of the NotePad window (the minus sign button).
NotePad will minimize and appear in the task bar at the bottom of the Windows screen.
You can Maximize NotePad at any time by clicking on the NotePad icon in the taskbar or by holding down the Alt key while you hit the Tab key.
Macintosh:
Click on the minimize button in the top left corner of the TextEdit window. Hint: The minimize button is the yellow/orange middle button.
Another option is to use the Hide keyboard shortcut. Hold down the Command Key (Apple) while you press the h key.
You can return TextEdit to the screen by clicking on the TextEdit icon in the Dock or by holding down the Command (Apple) key while you press the Tab key until the TextEdit application is selected.
Practice the procedures described above until you feel comfortable with opening multiple browser windows, resizing the browser windows, moving between a browser window and a text editor window. You will use these procedures often throughout the course and can review them at any time by clicking on the Managing Resources link found on every course webpage.
