How Search Engines Work

While you were off resting your eyes and stretching your legs, you were probably wondering how the search engines found all those webpages that were returned when you submitted your search topic, weren’t you? The link below will take you to some websites that specialize in explaining how search engines work. These websites also monitor and compare search engine performance and publish the results online.

Resize your web browser window and open NotePad/SimpleText. Open the digital logbook and the link below.

How Search Engines Work

Record what you discover as you explore the websites. You can cut and paste text from the web browser to the digital logbook or summarize the information in your own words. Save the digital logbook file when you finish.

Send me an e-mail message (25 to 50 words) outlining what you discovered. Title the message How Search Engines Work.
